Day two.

I am on day 2. It is actually not as horrible and traumatizing as I thought. I had a few hours this morning in between classes and working so what did I do? Laundry and homework and spent some time with Jesus :) Not too shabby! I probably would have done a little bit of that, and then spent time searching through the world of facebook to see how everyone's weekend went. ha.

I had a wonderful weekend! It consisted of going to Disneyland, the beach, spending some quality time in front of my television watching 3 different movies. (Which I NEVER do!) and going to church.  I truly did have an enjoyable first real weekend back in CA.
Here are some candids :::

We also went to Casey's Cupcakes at the Mission Inn! EVERYTHING was pink!!! I was in heaven !! Its sooo fun !!!

Kayla and I wore our new REEBOK EASY TONES to Disneyland! We WORKED OUT while walking Disney...the BEST! :)

Last night I went to Crossroads and the new series they kicked off is called
Words Written In Red.
They had a guest speaker come in from the East Coast and it was a wonderful sermon. The main focus of the series is the Sermon on the Mount that Jesus gave. He took a different perspective explaining how in our Christian walk, we are called to go upstream. Instead of going with a flow in our lives, we are called to go upstream, different from the crowd, to the source of where the purest and most abundant water is given. He explained how the first 3 things that Jesus talks about is about the preparation of our hearts and our minds. The latter parts of the first few verses in chapter 5 are about the presentation of our hearts. Salvation requires both  preparation and presentation.

Jesus explains how blessed are the poor in spirit. You realize that you are absolutely nothing with the Lord. We are spiritually bankrupt without Him. We need to be broken and humbled before the Lord. Blessed are those who mourn. Because they have realized that they are nothing with out the Lord.
Blessed are the gentle. Being gentle is taking your strength and getting it under control. When you humble yourself before the Lord you prepare your heart and mind for His work.

The next few things that the Lord talks about involves the presentation.
Blessed are the Merciful. We receive from God, and we need to extend His love and grace to others. Romans 12:9- Really love each other.
Blessed are the pure in heart. How can we even fathom being pure in heart? The Lord knows our hearts, and he knows how dirty and filthy and sinful they are. But the Lord wants us to be real. admitting to the Lord that we have desires of our flesh, and we think certain things. But if we re-wallpaper our minds, and rethink the way we think, we will slowly reach being pure in our hearts before the Lord.
Blessed are the peacemakers.  Maturity through Christ blossoms the character of peace. Be wise and think before you speak. Bring people together, and let God use you to bring peace to all.
And lastly: Blessed are the persecuted. Why is this one last? We build up all of these things the Lord is teaching us, but when we make it to the top, people are going to want to tear us down.

Our challenge was to go upstream. Away from the crowds, away from fleshly desires. To give up control of our own lives and practice humility through Christ in everything.

Be Blessed!
