It's been a cold and rainy day.

I cannot believe the weather today. Some of the day was absolutely beautiful and other parts of the day were actually scary. As I walked out the door after my rhetorical criticism class, the rain was COMING DOWN and the thunder and lightning were very real. The wind was at high speeds, and I was scared.
Kayla and I got back into the apartment, turned on the TV, and saw a giant TORNADO WARNING on the screen. Then we really got scared! So needless to say, we watched the news for about an hour, and prayed like crazy!

I spent the majority of my day doing homework (While I was not in class, of course!). I cannot believe we are in our third week of school and I am already buried in work.  But if I have learned one thing from being in college, it is that time management is highly effective. So even though some of my due dates are days away, I have been getting things done now.

But I sit here now, a cold Tuesday evening, needing to get away from the troubles of life and just reflect on this past weekend, church this past Sunday, and the beauty that Jesus provided for His people to witness today. Although it was a gloomy day, it was actually a very beautiful day.
I know I already blogged about this weekend, but I only shared the events, I didn't really get to share the blessings. It is always so good to have my mom here. Saturday morning, I woke up to hearing someone scrubbing something. I looked over to see that mom was not in bed, so I got up to see what was going on. I went into our upstairs bathroom, and it sparkled! I was so blessed that my mom woke up so early and cleaned our bathroom ( something none of the girls want to do!)  I don't know if my mom really realized how much I appreciated that, but it really was so huge. I can only hope that one day I can be a Godly woman that will get up before everyone else, and work as if I am only working for the Lord. So mom, THANK YOU for everything you do for me. I love you!

Sunday morning we went to church at Crossroads. Tyrone Wells lead the worship and it was absolutely wonderful. I took SO many notes, and have been looking forward to blogging all of them. I love blogging my notes from church because it helps me remember what I learned, and also helps me apply it to my life after I rewrite everything and kind of put my own words and thoughts into it.
Pastor Chuck is continuing the Words Written in Red series. The focus was on Matthew 5:3

"Blessed are the poor in Spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven"

Pastor Chuck broke down each word in the verse and gave us the Greek meaning behind some of them. The word Blessed comes from the work Eulogy meaning "To speak well of" and Makarios meaning "to be happy, to be supremely blessed, to jump for joy!"

Poor in Spirit is the idea that we are absolutely NOTHING without Jesus Christ. It describes one who cowers and begs, one who is worthless. Which describes us without Jesus.  We NEED God. and when we humble ourselves before Him, we have access to His love and power.
The opposite in being poor in spirit is self sufficiency and pride.
2 Corinthians 3:4-5 Such confidence we have through Christ!

Theirs is the kingdom of Heaven
Isaiah 57:15

So the idea of this sermon was that we need to realize that we are absolutely nothing without Christ. We NEED God and we need Him to become active in our lives.

Admit you are powerless to change your past. God can work everything together for the good.

Admit you are powerless to change other people. Work on yourself, pray for them, but admit YOUR need.

Admit you are powerless to cope with your sins. The kingdom of heaven can give you rest.

Jeremiah 33:3 - Call upon the Lord
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 My grace is sufficient for you, power made perfect in weakness.
1 John 4:18 No fear in love.

May God's presence, promise, and power be evident in your life.

Well I better get back to the books. I already miss my mom and sister sooo much and am planning on the next time that I will get to see them, and the boys of course! :)
I miss Trey and daddy just as much! I am so thankful that the Lord gave me such a wonderful family, and a wonderful life!
Be Blessed!
